Our family run park is a second generation family business founded in the 1960’s by John Hughes for visiting campers in a beautiful spot on the farm which has been in our family for 130 years. hendwr is accessed via a tree lined driveway that winds along the Afon Llynor. John is now aided by his Son, Philip and a small team that are committed to ensuring your enjoyment of your home in the country.
The tranquil setting, peace and beauty of this part of North Wales attracts visitors who want to get away from the pressures of everyday life. Hendwr Caravan Park provides the perfect place for a family holiday, a quick getaway or a weekend retreat. The stunning countryside surrounding the park is easily accessible from our working farm and we welcome well behaved dogs (with an owner!).
If it's fishing that floats your line we can put you in touch with Corwen Anglers Association to be able to access some of the world’s best Grayling fishing, as well as Trout and Salmon. Access to the river Dee is only one field's walk away. If walking is your thing there are many miles of fabulous walks and the most amazing scenery right from your caravan.
All the electricity on site is provided by our own renewable sources.
There is a small solar farm near the static tourers, but the main source of our energy is the Anaerobic Digester behind the barns.
Philip's company Ekogea has developed an additive, made from seaweed, which increases the amount of methane derived from the fuel and a system by which the fuel is forced through a small nozzle at half the speed of sound in order to more efficiently break it down.
This makes our Anaerobic Digester 50% more efficient than any other Anaerobic Digester anywhere in the World, meaning that we don't have to grow crops to feed the digester like most others do.
After the houses and the Caravan Park have been provided with their electricity there's enough put into the National Grid to power one of the local villages.
An extra bonus is that the waste can be used as a natural, very efficient, fertiliser that is spread on the fields, instead of using commercial fertilisers, enabling us to grow a huge yield of hay and haylage to feed our animals through Winter.
FREE WiFi - We have our own dedicated fibre broadband network, so you can check your emails and browse the internet from the luxury of your own tourer or holiday home.
